The concept of ageism, or discrimination based on age, has roots in societal
attitudes that developed during the Industrial Revolution. As mechanization
and rapid technological changes transformed the workplace, older workers
began to be viewed as less adaptable and less valuable to the workforce.
The term “ageism” itself was coined by Robert Butler in 1969. Butler, who
later became the founding director of the National Institute on Aging,
recognized the systematic stereotyping and discrimination against people because they are old.
I think it’s safe to say – this way of thinking has been going on for sometime

ready to pay; I said good morning to the cashier , I love greeting people with a ” Good Morning” just a friendly reminder – to acknowledgment -“ your here” Everyone has an idea of what they think ” aging looks “ – sound like even feel like and the list continues…

Time’s gentle hand bestows Gifts that youth cannot know: The peace of self-acceptance grows, As wild seeds we once did sow.
In aging’s sacred dance, We learn to truly see Each moment’s precious chance To simply, fully be.
So celebrate these changing days, This metamorphosis sublime, For beauty deepens in the ways We gracefully align with time.
You know the old saying “ Age ant nothing but a number ” baby -though the energy may not be the same ; the energy has been re – directed towards wisdom

Intergenerational Wealth Gap: Historical discrimination and systemic barriers have made it harder for older Black adults to accumulate wealth, affecting their retirement security and access to care.
Groundbreaking achievements from the 1970s:
