Make It Happen Even Though You Don’t Know How

We’ve been blessed with many examples of great speakers who mastered conflict resolution. Take the legendary speech Mr. Rockefeller gave when death was at his doorstep—his words not only calmed his enemies but convinced striking workers to return to their jobs. It’s an amazing speech worth checking out.

Here’s the thing: you may not be able to deliver a great speech like that, but you do have the ability to think—and that’s powerful.

Many people today are in a hurry. Being from NYC myself, we have this thing we call “city legs.” If you don’t walk fast or move out of the way, you’ll hear something like “move!” or “you forgot your city legs.” It’s a real thing—people in NYC are always on the move, and if you can’t keep up in the heart of the city, well, good luck!

But seriously, taking time to assess any situation gives you a leg up (no pun intended). I’m sure Mr. Rockefeller had the ability to bulldoze his way through, but instead he chose to think his way through and made history with his eloquent speech.

You have the same abilities. So the next time you find yourself in an uproar, step back and ask yourself: What can I offer or say that will cool the hot tempers before me?

This approach will help both your business and personal life. Remember, success comes to those who are capable of remaining calm.

Make 2026 the year of thinking clearly.

Hugs,
