A Shout Out to Excellence

Before we dive in, I have to give a big shout out to Michael B. Jordan. Yes, he did his thing! He won an amazing award, and it’s so refreshing to see someone of his stature handle success with such grace. I really appreciated how he had his mother by his side—he just seems to be a real, well-rounded human being.

It’s such a beautiful thing for the community—for us—to see a brother do his thing with diligence and courage. It takes tremendous courage to do what he’s doing. I’m sure he’s under a lot of pressure himself. It’s beautiful for young Black men out here to have something to aspire to. God bless him, God bless his family, and congratulations.

What If Stress Isn’t Your Enemy?

Now, let me ask you something that might shift everything for you. Hold on to your seats.

What if I told you that the tightness in your chest—the one you feel when stress hits—isn’t your enemy?

I know that when we think about the breath being tight, the first thing we do is panic. But what if that sensation is actually your body’s way of calling you back to worship? Back to peace. Back to purpose.

Seriously, take a moment right now and notice: where do you feel tension in your body? Your chest? Your throat? Your shoulders?

That’s not weakness. That’s your sacred alarm system trying to get your attention.

Meet Sarah: The Woman Who Turned Panic Into Prayer

Today, I want to share a story that changed how I view stressful moments in my life. I hope it does the same for you.

Meet Sarah—a successful marketing executive living in Atlanta. She was beautiful. She had a red Porsche, lived in a high-rise, had plenty of money, and was single by choice. She was a vegetarian who loved to work out and was a prominent fixture in her community.

On paper, her life looked perfect—great job, loving family, beautiful home. But inside, she was drowning.

Every morning, her alarm would go off, and before her feet even hit the floor, her body would flood with stress. Her mind would race with everything she had to do that day. By the time she got to work, she was already exhausted.

How many of you feel that? You know—when you get to work and regardless of what time you went to bed, you already feel drained. You’re already out of it.

The Parking Lot Moment

One Tuesday morning in March, everything changed.

Sarah was sitting in her car in the office parking lot, and her body went into full panic mode—heart pounding, hands shaking, that familiar tightness in her chest that made it hard to breathe.

But this time, instead of forcing herself to push through like she always did, she stopped. She placed her hand on her chest and whispered a small prayer:

“God, what are you trying to tell me?”

In that moment of stillness, something shifted. Her body wasn’t her enemy. It was actually trying to protect her—trying to get her attention because she’d been ignoring her soul’s needs for months.

That parking lot panic attack became Sarah’s pattern interrupt.

The Pattern Interrupt

See, a lot of times we continuously move ahead as if life is dragging us down a path we don’t know. Yes, we have affirmations. We want to achieve things, aspire to do things. But how can we ever fully progress in life if we don’t take the time to listen to what our internals need from us—what God is trying to say to us so He can give us the very desires of our hearts?

I don’t believe we were put on this earth to toil and work hard. The price has already been paid for us.

That parking lot moment was when Sarah realized her stress response wasn’t something to fight—it was a call to worship. A call to come back home to herself and to God.

Your Body Is Trying to Tell You Something

Think about the patterns you receive—those interruptions, those flutters in your body. For myself, whenever I feel tension in my body, I do my best to sit with it. Pay attention to it.

What am I doing? Am I force-feeding myself a lot of to-dos? Am I not allowing myself to fill my cup? Am I not coming from a place of love?

When I do come forth to create—whether it’s going live with you, creating something for my community, or being with my family—am I making sure my cup is full?

Your body is sounding an alarm. There’s always a cloud before the storm. There’s always something that goes off within us before we get to that breaking point. It’s just that we don’t take the time to listen.

What If Stress Is Actually a Call to Worship?

We’ve been taught to see stress as the enemy—something to medicate, something to numb. And listen, no judgment—you do you. But I would suggest that the first high should be from the ultimate high, which is God.

When you are at peace with your life, when you are at peace with yourself, everything else just flows. It’s like a true miracle happens when you start to take the pressures and give them to God.

When you sit down and say to yourself, “You know what? I know I am here for a purpose. I know I am here for love—to receive love, to give love”—because ultimately, God is love.

What if every racing heartbeat, every tight chest, every moment of overwhelm is actually your body trying to redirect you back to your divine purpose?

Stop letting daily triggers hijack your nervous system and drown out your divine purpose.

The Spiritual Science of the Body

Here’s what most people don’t know: there’s a physical bridge in your body that connects your survival instincts to your spiritual sovereignty.

Scientists call it the vagus nerve.

When I was doing research for this message, I was so smitten because I’ve always believed that everything works together. Our internal system has been created to allow us to live here on this earth. Think about it—we were created in a way where we can survive this world.

The vagus nerve is like a highway that runs from your brain all the way down through your chest and into your abdomen. When it’s functioning well, it helps you feel calm, centered, and connected.

This nerve was designed by God. You can take the science out of God, but you can’t take God out of science.

That pit in your stomach—connected to your brain—goes deep. You know when you have a hunch? When somebody is telling you something and you’re like, “Something about this person doesn’t sound right. Something about that story is just not sitting right with me”? That’s your vagus nerve. That’s your inner knowing.

From Survival Mode to Spiritual Alignment

When you’re stressed, this nerve goes into survival mode, preparing you to fight or flee. But when you’re at peace, it activates your rest-and-digest system, allowing you to think clearly, feel deeply, and hear God’s voice.

This isn’t just biology. This is sacred design. Your body is a temple, and the vagus nerve is one of the pathways through which divine peace flows.

The Power of Fasting

This is why fasting is so important. I’ve been practicing intermittent fasting for about five years now, ever since I hit fifty—because everything went through the roof. Nothing was working anymore. All the things I knew just stopped working. Add menopause on top of it, and I had to find new ways to survive, new ways to holistically better myself.

Intermittent fasting allows my digestive system to go into a state where my body can heal even longer. When you’re sleeping at night, your body is healing itself. That’s why when you eat breakfast, it’s called break-fast—you’re breaking your fast.

I usually break my fast around eleven or eleven-thirty. Sometimes it goes well into one o’clock. In the beginning, it’s not fun. But something happens—your body goes into cruise control and you don’t even feel hungry anymore. It’s remarkable.

Of course, check with your physician if you’re on any medication. But your body is a temple, and you want to treat your insides as such.

Silencing the Noise of Self-Doubt

When your nervous system is regulated, something miraculous happens. The constant chatter of self-doubt begins to quiet down.

You stop second-guessing yourself and your decisions. You stop feeling paralyzed by fear. You stop letting other people’s opinions drown out your inner knowing.

A regulated nervous system opens a pathway for spiritual serenity.

For those who are entrepreneurs, regulating your nervous system is a key factor to any amount of success you could ever have. It allows you to stand firm in who God created you to be—without apology and without wavering.

You don’t want to be like a tree swaying with every wind. You don’t want to be easily shaken—especially in the world we live in today.

Sarah’s Transformation

After that parking lot moment, Sarah started implementing simple practices:

  • Deep breathing
  • Splashing cold water on her face (something I’m working myself up to—cold water tightens the pores and wakes you up!)
  • Humming worship songs

And I’m sure you know what I’m talking about—when you are in love with the Creator God, that music just doesn’t go away. The lyrics just come. Those hymns just come. I truly believe it’s from our ancestors, from the people who were worshiping before we even knew what life was.

For the people who were in chains, this is all they had—worship. They used to hum while picking cotton. While the sun beat down on their heads, they were worshiping God. While they were getting beaten down, they were worshiping God.

You, my friends, with the luxury of this life you’re living right now—hymns should be flying out of your mouth.

Within weeks, the voice of doubt that had plagued Sarah for years began to fade, replaced by a quiet confidence she hadn’t felt since childhood.

Leave a child face emoji in the comments if you know what I’m talking about—because little kids don’t know about self-doubt. They play, they draw these weird pictures, and they bring them confidently to their parents: “Look, Mommy! Look what I drew!”

Your Body as a Temple for Peace

This biological reset isn’t just a health hack. It’s an act of worship.

When you choose to regulate your nervous system, you’re saying: My body matters. My peace matters. I refuse to live in a constant state of emergency when God has called me to walk in rest.

Let me tell you—for years, I was living in strife. My temper, everything would set me off. My nervous system was so unruly that I didn’t even realize the havoc it was playing on me until it did. And trust me, it was not pretty.

But thank God for willingness. Thank God for mercy. One of the first things I did—other than pray—was go to therapy. I do believe in therapy. I know a lot of us don’t, but let me tell you something: the same way you go to the gym, the same way you go to the doctor, your brain needs care too. Having a safe space to speak your feelings is a gift.

You’re not just managing stress—you’re making a spiritual declaration that you will not allow the chaos of this world to dictate the condition of your soul. To dictate feelings of fear, poverty, or not being enough onto your being.

You don’t deserve that.

From Survival to Sacred Bloom

Sarah’s story didn’t end in the parking lot. That was just the beginning.

She started viewing every stress trigger as a sacred pause—an opportunity to check in with her body and with God. Something you can do too.

When she felt her chest tightening during a difficult meeting, instead of pushing through, she excused herself for a moment, took three deep breaths, and asked: “What do I need right now?”

A lot of us are in high positions. And as women, the stress level of being everything—being beautiful, being fit, being a mother, being a daughter, being a friend, being a wife—it’s just like, where’s the break? While still not being able to make as much money, doing the same position, having to fight tooth and nail. This can run havoc on your body.

And it’s okay. It doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’re a human being.

Taking time to step away—from that desk, from that meeting, from the kids, from that man, from these relationships—stepping away from anything that is causing you to skip a breath in a negative way, so you can recalibrate and ask God: “What is the intention? What is the next best step for me to do right now?”

Sometimes the answer was right in front of her. Sometimes it was boundaries—healthy boundaries, allowing herself to say no sometimes. Because when you allow yourself to say no sometimes, you allow yourself space to think clearly.

If you’re always saying yes, yes, yes, trying to be everything to everybody else, you’re going to have a breakdown. Trust me—I am a recovering people pleaser.

Six months later, Sarah looked like a different person. Not because her circumstances had changed—she still had a demanding job and a full life—but because she had learned to turn biological tension into a sacred bloom.

Her nervous system was no longer her enemy. It was her ally. Her early warning system. Her invitation to come back to center.

The Internal Work Comes First

Just because you’ve been doing this work doesn’t mean everything changes overnight. Listen, this takes time. This way of thinking, these practices—they take time.

And it may take some time before things on the outer start to mirror what’s happening internally. Because the work has to happen first inside.

A lot of people think, “If I make a certain amount of money, everything is going to be perfect.” I’m sorry to break the news to you: if you don’t start the work internally first, nine times out of ten, no matter how much money you receive, you’re going to still be in the same situation. You’re still going to be impoverished.

Because you have never uplifted and cleared out the things that got you in that space in the first place. If anything, the money makes it worse. Dare I say.

This is one of the reasons why people who come across a certain amount of money—because of lack of education, lack of internal work—find themselves right back where they started.

And this is not to point fingers, but we have to take responsibility for ourselves. Because guess what? No one is coming to save you. No one is coming to save you. So you might as well start doing the work now, internally.

Stay ready, so you don’t have to get ready. Because let me tell you—it’s coming. That blessing is coming. That new position is coming. That property you want is here. That man you’ve been praying for is there. But you have to work inside first. You have to create that universe within yourself so you can be in a position to receive.

Otherwise, you’re not going to be in alignment. Why would the Creator God be so cruel as to bless you in a way that you are not ready for? Why would He do that? Think about that.

Your Invitation to Reclaim Your Peace

This is your invitation. Reclaim your peace today. Right now.

I want to invite you to do something radical. The next time your body sounds an alarm, don’t run from it. I know we usually like to distract ourselves, but don’t run from it. Don’t ignore it. Don’t medicate it away.

Instead, pause. Place your hand on your heart and take a deep breath. Let’s do it together.

Ask yourself:

What is my body trying to tell me? What part of my soul needs attention right now?

Your stress response isn’t a flaw in your design. God did not create you to live in stress. It’s a feature. It’s a commercial. It’s God’s way of getting your attention when you’ve wandered too far from your center. When you’ve prioritized everyone else’s needs above your own. When you’ve forgotten that you were created for peaceful, purposeful sovereignty.

The 3-3-3 Sacred Reset

If you’re ready to begin this journey, here’s a simple practice Sarah used that you can implement right now. I call it the 3-3-3 Sacred Reset.

When you feel stress rising:

  1. Place both hands on your heart
  2. Take three deep breaths—inhaling for a count of four, holding for four, exhaling for six
  3. Ask yourself three questions:
    • What am I feeling?
    • What do I need?
    • What is God inviting me into right now?
  4. Speak three words of truth over yourself:
    • I am safe.
    • I am loved.
    • I am exactly where I need to be.

This isn’t just a breathing exercise. It’s a sacred pause. It’s you choosing peace over panic. It’s you reclaiming your body as a temple.

Your Body Is Not Your Enemy

I need you to hear this right now:

Your body is not your enemy. Your body is not broken. Your stress response is not a failure. Your nervous system is not against you.

You are designed for this. Your body is trying to help you, protect you, guide you back to the peace that passes all understanding.

Will you listen? Will you allow this pattern interrupt to become your sacred calling? Will you turn your daily triggers into purposeful pauses? Will you reclaim the vagus nerve as a conduit for God’s peace?

If your answer is yes, then welcome to the journey. Welcome to the path of turning biological tension into a sacred bloom. Welcome home to the peaceful, purposeful sovereignty you were always meant to walk in.

Let It Bloom

Your body is sounding an alarm. And today, you’re finally ready to answer the call.

This segment hit home for me so deeply. I struggled in this area for many years of my life. It took a lot of work, but I got it done. And to be honest, I’m still here—I’m still working on it.

Which leads me to let you know: every day, I’ve been uploading daily reflections in the evening. They usually go up at seven o’clock. This is something that’s been put on my heart to do.

If you are serious about reclaiming your life, understanding that gratitude allows you to be in a state of mind where you can hear God’s voice and reclaim your blessings—reclaim your space as a human being on this earth and not allow the enemy to take away your purposeful life—you want to be here at seven o’clock in the evening to receive these blessings.

And don’t forget: I created a course for you. It’s a yoga meditation course. I truly believe you’re going to love this meditation. Even when I created it, I said to myself, “Wow, this is such a beautiful task to have.”

You don’t have to have anything special—you can do this on your bed. But if you have a yoga mat, just carve out a little space in your area so you can reap the most benefits from this course. It’s going to allow you to connect with your body and regulate your nervous system.
