Why run when you can walk?
Every day, people ask themselves whether they should keep moving forward or give up. That struggle has followed humanity for thousands of years.
David faced the same question when he stood before Goliath. Should he run, or should he stand up to the giant ahead?
There were giants roaming the earth, and fear was spreading across the land. But it was not until David stood up to the giant that the people saw deliverance begin to unfold. And shortly after that, David became king.
What giants are you running from?
Are you running from starting that new career?
Are you running from writing that book that has been calling your name for the last year or so?
Whatever gift you may be running from, like David, you have the ability to face it and overcome it.
I believe God has given us all the ability to win over our giants.
One of the ways we move past fear is by facing it head on—moving forward with whatever tools we have in hand.
I am sure David wished he had a crafted weapon in his hand, but all he had was a sling and good aim.
Can you imagine what would have happened if he said, “What’s the use? I do not have the tools to defeat the giant.” He and everyone around him would have been destroyed.
What David chose to do was move forward with what God had placed in his hand, trusting that somehow, some way, his efforts would see him through.
So the next time you find yourself at a crossroads, be like David.
Use the tools God has given you, and you too will be able to conquer that giant.
Three positive takeaways
- Step forward with courage, even if you only have a little to start with.
- God can use the gifts and tools already in your hand.
- Faith grows stronger when you keep moving forward.
