Even If They Say No, Do It Anyway
Some people are suffering under the weight of naysayers. You know the voices. “Oh no, you can’t do that.” “It won’t work out.” “You’re not the type.”
But what if you finally took matters into your own hands and allowed yourself to win? To win at the very things you have spent years convincing yourself you could not do?
Every time you let a naysayer decide your next move, you lose time you will never get back. And if we are being honest, the loudest naysayer is often not “them.” It is you.
Because at the end of the day, no one can stop you from reaching your dreams the way you can.
Why we hold back: fear
Many people talk themselves out of trying before they even start. One of the biggest reasons is fear.
- Fear of failing.
- Fear of being judged.
- And yes, fear of succeeding.
That last one sounds strange, but it is real. Research has found that fear can push people into avoidance, procrastination, and “playing small,” especially when the outcome feels uncertain or when success could bring change, attention, or higher expectations.
In other words, fear does not just show up as panic. Sometimes it shows up as a “reasonable” excuse.
What God says about fear
God does not minimize fear, but God does not ask you to live under it.
- “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7
- “Fear not, for I am with you… I will strengthen you.” — Isaiah 41:10
- “When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” — Psalm 56:3
- “Perfect love casts out fear.” — 1 John 4:18
Faith does not always mean you feel brave. Faith means you take the step anyway, because you know who is holding you.
Take the first step anyway
So give yourself a break. Start small.
Take the first step. Then take another. Then another.
And one day you will look up and realize you are no longer stuck in your head. You are moving.
The next time fear shows up, remind yourself: it is a feeling, not a prophecy. Take the step anyway.
